In a large bowl, combine whole-wheat flour, 1 cup white flour, almond flour, brown sugar, baking powder, flax seeds, and salt.
Slice butter
Slowly combine butter into flour mixture until mixture until it resembles fine crumbs.
Stir in nuts, maple syrup, egg, and milk.
Form dough into a ball using your hands if necessary.
Turn dough into a lightly floured surface.
Roll dough out into an 8-inch disk
Transfer to a lightly greased baking sheet.
Cut into wedges, but do not separate
Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes
Immediately remove from baking sheet, and carefully separate.

Tips
Scones are best served warm. To reheat scones place them in a brown paper bag. Wet the outside of the bag and place in the oven on 300 for a few minutes, until the paper bag dries out.
