Mix all wet ingredients in a large bowl. Set aside
Mix all dry ingredients on a large plate. Set aside
Cut bread into thick slices. Set aside heals to use for a separate use.
Preheat a large iron skillet or pan of choice on medium low heat.
Coat both sides of the bread in the wet mixture. Ensure excess mixture is drained off.
Coat both sides of the bread with dry mixture.
Lightly grease the pan with butter.
Cook each side of the bread in the pan until browned on each side. Watch carefully since the sugar coating on the outside will go from browned to burned quickly.
Once the French toast is cooked place on a plate and cover with a large bowl to keep warm until all toast is cooked.
Repeat steps 5 to 9 until all bread is cooked
Plate by sprinkling with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup.
